Printsy Team Update

Greetings, Printsy members!

I would like to update you with some changes to our membership policy, which can be found on our Printsy Team Page on Etsy.
1) You must have an active Etsy Shop that has some active listings available (excluding brief closures, e.g. holidays).

2) The majority of the items in your shop must be produced using original, hand-pulled, printmaking techniques (e.g. relief, intaglio, lithography, monotypes, silkscreen etc.), and not predominantly functional or apparel items.
* If your profile has no active listings or no shop set up, your membership application will be declined.
* If your shop has no or few original, hand-pulled prints, your membership application will be declined.
* If your shop has a majority of non-printmaking items, your membership application will be declined.
* If your shop has a majority of items that include printmaking but are not predominantly fine art (e.g. functional, apparel or household items), your membership application will be declined.
We also have a new welcome message posted on the Team Page under the "About This Team" section:
Printsy represents the printmaking artists of Etsy.com, working in the time honored techniques of intaglio, relief, screen printing, lithography and monotypes.

Thanks for applying to Printsy, and welcome!

Check out our blog (printsy.blogspot.com), our Flickr Group (www.flickr.com/groups/printsy/), and our Team Page www.etsy.com/teams/6126/printsy/).

Please remember to use the "Printsy" tag on your hand-pulled printmaking items so that we can find you when our curator searches for items to feature on our "Who's Printsy" blog posts. We appreciate if you link to Printsy, either our blog, or team page, and please try to make time to create treasuries which include, or blog about, other Printsy members' shops. The more you work towards promoting Printsy and Printsy members, the better we’ll all benefit from the exposure.

Someone will be in touch in due course about asking if you'd like to participate in an interview. If you are keen to participate (check out our current interviews on the blog), please contact one of the Team Leaders (see the members page) for further information. If you wish your shop to be featured on the blog, this is the best way to do so.

Thanks again, and please feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

Printsy Team Leaders

I would like to welcome our newest team leaders:

srajab1
BlueSkyArtwork

and our newest blog contributors:

katieblairdesigns
pabili

I (ploverwing) will be stepping down as Team Captain and will no longer be participating as much in Printsy. I have enjoyed my three years of helping out with Printsy, but it's time for others to get a chance to participate.

Thanks!

Printsy Help Wanted!

Dear Printsy members,

It's that time again - we've been extremely lucky to have the help of AnniePod (Diane Podolsky) running the interviews for the blog, and notoriousfcp (Frank Pappas) as our "Who's Printsy This Week" curator. Unfortunately for Printsy, Diane will be starting to wind down to an eventual closure of her Etsy presence, including an end to her volunteering with Printsy.

I, too, am running out of steam; I had taken a few months' hiatus last year (new baby), then picked up the thread of membership again a few months ago, but I have decided that it's time for someone else to take over.

So, we need some new Printsy member volunteers, please. The following jobs are up for grabs:

1. Interviews for the blog: contacting potential interviewees (i.e. Printsy members who have not yet been featured on our blog), collating the resulting interviews and images, and posting them on a weekly post-dated basis as the interviews are received. This will entail some knowledge of using html (just a little) and blogging skills.

2. Articles for the blog: Writing "how to's" or other interesting printmaking articles for the blog, with appropriate printmaking related themes and illustrated with appropriate images. As above, this will entail some knowledge of using html (just a little) and blogging skills. This job is something that we could have a coordinator for (like for the interviews), with many different members contributing articles to that coordinator/editor for publishing.

3. Membership review: whenever a new applicant sends a request to join Printsy, review the applicant's shop to make sure that they do have original, hand-pulled printmaking items. This is important, and a bit sticky; if they have mostly reproductions with only a couple of printmaking items, usually we decline their invitation, as it’s against the spirit of the intention of Printsy. Printsy is about hand-pulled, original, printmaking artwork, so it does take a little thought for considering new members.

4. Membership list: Once new members are approved, then the membership list on the blog has to be updated.

There may be other jobs that come up; we’ll add to this thread with further information if necessary. Please convo me if you are interested in helping or have any questions, and feel free to post to this thread with further discussion.

Thanks!
Amie (ploverwing)
Printsy Team Captain

*** UPDATE ***

Thanks everyone who have offered to help! We've got some great support, and will be working on some changes to the membership requirements and application process for the Printsy Team. We'll keep you posted!

New Printsy Feature

Starting soon, we will be alternating our regular printsy interviews with a new feature about printing tips and techniques. If you have a printing technique you would like to share, have done some step by step demos and documented them, or even want to pose a general question about technique then please convo AnniePod so we can get the ball rolling on this new feature.

Also, if you are a new member of Printsy and have not been interviewed yet, an old time member that hasn't been interviewed since the beginning of the blog, then also get in touch with me. Diane Podolsky (AnniePod)
